Cycling Adventures in QUAD

QUAD is hosting a weekend of cycling films and events in partnership with Cycle Derby as part of the bike film festival on Saturday 22nd – Monday 24th November. The events include an evening of short films and cycling inspired art, called ‘Cycling Shorts’ and film screenings of ‘The Goonies’, and the classic feature ‘The Bicycle Thieves’.
The Goonies (PG) will be shown as a family friendly ‘Cine Kids’ screening on Saturday 22nd November at 3:30pm and Sunday 23rd November at 1:30pm. The Goonies (PG) from 1985, is about a group of children on an adventure to find hidden treasure, pirates, and secret caves while being chased by evil thieves, ‘the Fratellis’. Cycle Derby will be hosting led rides from local primary schools to see the film.
The Bicycle Thieves (U) (In Italian with English subtitles) will be screened on Sunday 22nd & Monday 24th November. A simple and moving tale of a man and his son searching for a stolen bicycle in post war Rome, ‘The Bicycle Thieves’ is a genuine classic, voted number 6 in the Sight And Sound Directors Top Ten Films of All Time.
‘Cycling Shorts with Cycle Derby’ on Sunday 23rd November at 6:00pm is a free event which will be in The Box at QUAD. A selection of the best new, established and community cycling inspired films will be screened in an evening of Bike Film Shorts and Photography Competition winners’ slide show. Films include ‘Take it or Leave it’ by Dean Dickenson and ‘Bike Kill’ by Rachel Meyrick as well as films supplied by the local BMX specialists MODE.
