QUAD Derby

There will be fun arts activities, workshops for young people and family friendly film screenings at QUAD in Derby during the summer holidays.

SummersQUAD, a series of fun arts activities for families with children of all ages, will take place on Mondays and Fridays from the 5th until 26th August. SummersQUAD offers a chance to explore the different kinds of holidays you might take this summer, under the sea, in space, in the rainforest and at the seaside! SummersQUAD are free drop-in activity sessions which will take place on Monday 8th, 15th and 22nd August from 1:00pm until 3:00pm, and Friday 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th August from 10:00am until 12 noon.

KidsQUAD and Digi-sQUAD Summer Activities include a mix of digital and craft based activities for young people aged seven to sixteen years, where you can leave your youngsters in QUAD to learn new techniques and develop their skills.

KidsQUAD Summer Activities, for children aged 7 to 11 years include; 'Create Your Own Music Track', a chance to learn about different styles of music and have a go at making a track using computers and keyboards to experiment with different sounds and beats. Create 'Your Own Music Track' will take place on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th August, from 10:00am until 12 noon on each day. The cost is £22.50, which covers all 3 sessions.

'Create Your Own Comic Book' is a chance to have fun creating imaginary characters and a story about them. Learn how to turn your story into a comic book using hand-drawn illustrations and Apple Mac computer programmes. 'Create Your Own Comic Book' will take place on Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th August from 10:00am until12 noon on each day. The cost is £22.50, which covers all 3 sessions.

Digi-sQUAD Summer Activities for children aged 12 to 16 years; include 'Manga Workshop' which is a chance to learn how to create your own Manga characters using traditional and digital techniques. Focus on character detail and scene settings to create your illustrations. 'Manga Workshop' will take place on Tuesday 9th, Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th August, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on each day. The cost is £45, which covers all 3 sessions.

'Silent Movie Making' is a chance to create your own silent movie in the style of Buster Keaton or Laurel and Hardy. You will use the green screen, photography and video editing techniques and effects to produce your short silent film. 'Silent Movie Making' will take place on Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th August from 1:00pm until 4:00pm on each day. The cost is £45, which covers all 3 sessions.

Children do not need to be accompanied during KidsQUAD and Digi-sQUAD sessions, however, any children with additional and behavioural support needs will need to come with care support. Cine Kids family friendly film screenings will take place daily during school holidays, films include Hop (U) (from Saturday 23rd until Thursday 28th July) and Rio (U) (from Friday 29th July until Thursday 4th August). Tickets for QUAD's Cine Kids screenings are just £3.00 per person for 'Cine Kids Club' members.

QUAD's Family Friendly Café Bar offers a range of drinks, snacks, cakes and delicious dishes, also has a Children's Menu, high chairs plus an activity trolley with books and colouring sheets.
