Operas from Glyndebourne screen at QUAD

QUAD will present screenings of Operas from Glyndebourne in July and August, with a screening of Don Giovanni, recorded live at the 2010 Glyndebourne Festival and The Turn of the Screw, which will screen live from the 2011 Glyndebourne Festival.
Don Giovanni, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, follows an unrepentant Don Juan as he continues to elude his earthly pursuers when otherworldly powers are forced to intervene - leading to a fire and brimstone climax that ranks among Mozart's most earth-shattering achievements.
Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Certificate PG) will screen at QUAD on Sunday 31st July at 5:45pm, the running time is three and a half hours, with interval.
Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw will be a live Screening from Glyndebourne Festival.
Set in a remote English country house with faithful old housekeeper and two young orphan children. When an eager new governess arrives from London to look after the orphans, she begins to realise all is not quite as it seems. Britten's brilliantly scored, compelling adaptation of Henry James's novella takes its themes of childish innocence and adult corruption, then twists and turns them to disturbing and devastating effect. The Turn of the Screw is Directed by Jonathan Kent and Conducted by Jakub Hrůša and the cast includes: Toby Spence, Miah Persson, Susan Bickley and Giselle Allen. Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw will be live at QUAD on Sunday 21st August at 5:45pm. The running time is two and a half hours, with an interval.
