QUAD XI - Cricket in the heart of the city
QUAD XI CC, a cricket team made up of arts professionals and film fanatics, has been established at QUAD. Derby's centre for art and film has launched the team with a view to being a long term home for cricketers looking for fun and camaraderie.
The new venture has been boosted by the news that current Derbyshire captain Luke Sutton has agreed to be their patron.
The QUAD XI CC team will play a series of friendly matches against sides in Derby City, Derbyshire and the East Midlands in 2011 with a view to establishing the team and creating a platform to grow in subsequent years.
Chairman and Captain of QUAD XI and Deputy Director of QUAD Adam Buss said; "The idea behind QUAD XI is to create an inclusive and fun cricket team where all are welcome regardless of ability. Our ethos is based around a sense of fun and love for the game of cricket and we are not expecting great results in our first year but certainly expecting a lot of fun. We are very proud that Luke Sutton has agreed to be our patron, not only is he an exemplary cricketer he is also an incredibly nice guy."
QUAD XI patron Luke Sutton said; "I am pleased to be able to offer support and advice to QUAD XI. As a new team their ideas around inclusion and fun are something that I am very supportive of as it promotes a love for the game and encourages more people to take part. I'll certainly be keeping a keen interest in how the lads are getting on."
This further strengthens the relationship between QUAD and Derbyshire CCC, a partnership which was established in 2010 to promote and support each other and encourage engagement from audiences in each other's activities.
QUAD XI still have places available in the squad and are currently looking for friendly matches and training facilities. For more information please visit http://quad.play-cricket.com/home/home.asp or email adamb@derbyquad.co.uk
