Why the arts matter
The political landscape is changing and QUAD, like all arts organisations, is preparing for a time of uncertainty. Here's why the arts matter to us.
The total grant from the Arts Council works out at under 17p per person. For less than half the price of a pint of milk 76% of English adults engaged in the arts in the last 12 months.
In a recent study, the Five Regularly Funded Arts Organisations of Derby - Déda, QUAD, Derby LIVE, sinfonia ViVA and First Movement - estimated that they:
* Generate £14.4 million pounds for Derby
* Support over 300 jobs
* Have audiences of over 765,000 per year
For every £1 invested by Derby City Council, over £11 is generated.
For every £1 invested by Arts Council England over £13 is generated.
The arts in Derby:
* are vital to the city's growth
* improve quality of life
* raise profile
* attract inward investment
Derby would be a much poorer place without us.
