Big Draw Events

QUAD has four special drawing events as part of 'The 'Big Draw'.
The Big Draw is an annual festival held across the UK every October, where museums, galleries, heritage sites, libraries, schools and parks invite people of all ages to discover how drawing can connect them with their surroundings and the wider community.
'The Big Scribble' launches The Big Draw in QUAD Saturday 8th October. The floors and walls of The Box in QUAD will be covered with paper and there will be pens chalks and crayons for people to draw, scribble and let their imaginations run free! The Big Scribble takes place from 11:00am until 3:00pm.is free, and open to everyone.
Life Drawing tutor Sam Malone and Printmaker Lesley Warrington will be combining their talents for this inspired workshop called Life Drawing combined with Printmaking on Saturday 15th October. During a morning session participants will learn or improve their Life Drawing skills from a live model, while the afternoon session participants will be able to transform their drawings with a range of inspirational Print techniques. Life Drawing combined with Printmaking takes place from 10:30am until 4:30pm. Day tickets are: £35, and £30 concessions.
Hatch'd Out and QUAD present Derby's first International Freehand Circle Drawing Competition in QUAD on Thursday 27th October. Teams or individuals will have to complete a series of 'circular challenges' to win the grand prize of a 'round' of drinks. Spot prizes will be awarded for team outfits! QUAD's Café Bar will also be offering a range of circular food. Freehand Circle Drawing Competition takes place in QUAD from 6:00pm with a chance to practice, the Competition will begin at 7:00pm. Tickets are: £1 per person.
Dr Sketchy's Anti Art School, where Cabaret and Burlesque meets Life Drawing, is QUAD's final Big Draw event on Saturday 29th October. Dr Sketchy's Anti Art School is a creative phenomenon in over 110 cities worldwide! Participants will have the unique chance to draw models Emerald Ace and Laura Woods, complete with wild costumes and unusual poses. All levels of drawing experience are welcome, Dr Sketchy's is relaxed and informal and professional artists are always on hand to give you tips and tricks. Please bring your own art materials (dry, non-messy media only please). Dr Sketchy's Anti Art School takes place in QUAD from 1:00pm until 4:00pm.Tickets are: £8 in Advance, and £9 on the door.
