Opportunities for Schools at QUAD

QUAD Kids image by Simon Bolton

There is an opportunity for Primary and Secondary school teachers to find out how QUAD can facilitate educational and creative activities for staff and students at free launch evenings in September. There is also a chance to bring Primary or Secondary schools groups to the current exhibition or to free film screenings in October.

The Exhibition Engagement and Learning Programme Launch evenings will show teachers how QUAD's new Education Programme can enhance learning, skill development and support the curriculum. The free evenings offer an informal chance to learn more about QUAD's digital and art facilities and activities; from digital film-making and animation to art and craft workshops. The evenings includes a bespoke tour of the current exhibition in QUAD, 'Ha Ha Road', with a discussion on themes, and an opportunity to network with teachers and educators to exchange creative ideas.

Four evenings will take place in September; two for Primary Schools and two for Secondary Schools. Launch evenings for Primary Schools take place on Tuesday 20th September from 4:00pm until 6:00pm and on Monday 26th September from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. Launch evenings for Secondary Schools take place on Wednesday 21st September 4:00pm until 6:00pm and on Tuesday 27th September from 4:00pm until 6:00pm

It is free to attend the events, but teachers will need to RSVP. To book a place or to find out more please contact Jen Ohlson, Education Curator: 01332 285425 or Jeno@derbyquad.co.uk

Primary and Secondary Schools can also make use of the Ha Ha Road exhibition to facilitate and enhance learning outside of the classroom. Artist-led workshops are available at QUAD, including a detailed tour of the exhibition followed by a creative digital or art workshop exploring themes in the work including: humour, visual communication, absurdity, characterisation and intervention. This half-day activity is available for groups of up to 30 students and costs £60 per school group. To book a workshop or for more information please contact Jen Ohlson, Education Curator.

QUAD will also be taking part in National Schools Film Week, free film screenings for Primary and Secondary Schools, taking place from 17th - 20th October. For more information, please see: www.nationalschoolsfilmweek.org
