SoundTrack Derby Celebration Event celebrates the sounds of Derby with Surtal Arts Festival of Light in November

QUAD will be holding a celebration event to mark the culmination of the SoundTrack Derby mass participation music project in November.

In collaboration with Surtal Arts Festival of Light, the SoundTrack Derby Celebration Event will begin from The Spot in Derby with a Lantern Trail, processing to the Market Place for a live event including; spoken word, drumming, fire, dancing and circus performances. The event continues at Derby's Cathedral Green where there will be a live performance by Sandeep Ravel, followed by the finalé celebration event in QUAD, featuring the prize winners from SoundTrack Derby.

One of the SoundTrack Derby performances will feature a group of young people who have been working together to create a piece based on the sounds of their lives. Jack Brown, Dan Dappa and Simon Jones will perform a taster of this piece with drummers from Surtal Arts on the Market Place

The finalé Celebration in QUAD features a collaboration between Corey Mwumba and Pictographik. Corey has developed a piece of music using the sounds from SoundTrack Derby which he will play along with live on a vibraphone.  The performance will be accompanied by a live VJ performance by Pictographik. Performances of the music by the winners from SoundTrack Derby will be  accompanied by VJing from members of the Deaf community The evening offers a chance for those who took part in SoundTrack Derby to hear their sounds played live, as well as anyone interested to hear the resulting 'sounds of Derby'.

The SoundTrack Derby Celebration Event in collaboration with Surtal Arts Festival of Light, takes place on Friday 18th November, from 5:30pm at The Spot in Derby and in QUAD from 8:00pm. The event is free.
