Last Chance to Apply for QUAD Shorts

Aspiring local filmmakers have a chance to see their ideas up on the silver screen as the deadline approaches to apply for QUAD Shorts 2 film commission. QUAD Shorts 2 film commission will fund up to five pieces of film or moving image by artists and film makers from Derby, Derbyshire and the East Midlands. Applications need to be recieved by Wednesday 30th November.
Proposals are invited for short films three to five minutes in length with the theme of 'Heroes', inspired by 2012 Olympics. Each of the five selected commissions will receive a production budget of up to £5000 and the completed films will be screened in QUAD as part of 'ID Fest' film festival in May 2012. Successful applicants will also recive support for Script Development, Project Mentoring and a professional Producer for each film as part of the commisssion.

Previous winners of QUAD Shorts Film Commission in 2009 have had international success with their films. 'This Side Of The After Life' and 'The Cake' was one of five winning commissions in 2009.This Side Of The After Life, by Adam & Joe Horton, screened in Prague, Toronto, Colorado and at 'Raindance' Film Festival. The Cake by Esther Richardson has been selected for Moscow International Film Festival, Rushes Soho Shorts and is also one of the UK finalists for the Women in Film and Television International Short Film Showcase. Both films will also eligible for entry to BAFTA and if selected will be part of an international line-up of films that will tour the world.
Adam & Joe Horton said: "QUAD's Short film commission was a massive opportunity for us and has given us a huge boost in terms of allowing us to show audiences and producers what we can achieve." Esther Richardson said of her film, 'The Cake', "I probably would not have made it if QUAD's Short film commission had not supported me."
