QUAD Patron John Hurt receives BFI honour

John Hurt CBE is to be made a fellow of the British Film Institute (BFI) at an awards ceremony which will be part of this year's London Film Festival.
The actor, who has starred in films including Alien, The Elephant Man and Midnight Express, said "For me, the BFI is the heart of British cinema. I consider it the highest honour possible to be awarded a Fellowship."
John Hurt became the patron of QUAD in February 2009 and recently visited the venue to celebrate QUAD’s first birthday.
Adam Buss, Deputy Director of QUAD said: “This is a fantastic honour for John and really pleasing for everyone at QUAD to see that his undoubted talents and contribution to the film industry are being recognised. John continues to have a prodigious output of film work and he is personally interested in the development of new talent and fresh thinking in both film and television.”
John Hurt, who is to appear in the next Harry Potter films, has two movies premiering at the festival 44 Inch Chest and The Limits Of Control. The London Film Festival runs from 14th to 29th October.
