Book sQUAD
Would you like to start reading more? Are you into books, discussing your thoughts and want to broaden your literary remit?
BooksQUAD brings together book worms with different preferences and perspectives, all with a shared love for the written word.
Come along any or every month as we take it in turns to select a book and discuss it.
Books selected will be displayed on this page each month so new members are always welcome.
There is no fee to join, and you can come along as little or as often as you choose. You will however need to source the chosen book each month either from a library, book shop or online.
We meet in the Participation Space in QUAD (with discount on food and drink) on the second Monday of the month from 6.00pm until 8.00pm.
If you would like to be emailed and kept up to date with book choices each month, please email Rhiannon with your details so you can be added to the mailing list (contact details at bottom).
Upcoming Meetings:
Books are chosen at the end of each session for the next one, you only need to choose and read one.
Monday 13th February 2012 - books to be discussed;
Sylvia Plath - The Bell Jar
Philip K. Dick - Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said
Lance Armstrong - It's Not About the Bike
Monday 12th March 2012 - books to be discussed;
Michelle Lovric - The Book of Human Skin
George R Stewart - Earth Abides
Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland
Swap sQUAD!
Anyone who wants to participate in this, the swapping of books, should each bring in a random book of theirs all wrapped up and place secretly on a table. Everyone who has brought a book can then pick randomly from the pile, and receive a new book to keep, hopefully that they've never read. These can then be read and swapped again or simply wrapped up for next time if you really don't want to read it!
It does not mean you need to go out and buy a book, it can be an unwanted Christmas present, a book that's been sitting on your shelves for years but you've never read, a book you've read a few times and love and wish to share with others or a book you've already read and aren't going to read again.
