QUAD and 1623 present
Acting on stage and screen
Friday 21st October, 10:00am to 5:00pm
Intensive one-day course for actors
"Suit the action to the word"
Join Ben Spiller, artistic director of award-winning 1623 theatre company, and 1623 associate artists to bring Shakespeare's plays to life on stage and screen 400 years after his death.
You will develop the skills needed to perform Shakespeare for theatre, film, TV and online audiences. We will look closely at a selection of Shakespeare's texts for vocal and physical clues in soliloquies, monologues, duologues and scenes before trying out ways of putting them into practice. The focus of the masterclass will be on the major differences between acting Shakespeare for stage and screen.
This masterclass is for actors at all stages of their careers, as well as students of drama, theatre, film and media. Please wear loose clothing and trainers. Come with an open mind and lots of energy.
