The theme for the 2009 Well Dressing was 'Shoot For The Moon' to celebrate the International Year of Astronomy and the anniversary of the First Moon Landing.

Well Dressing is a traditional custom, all but unique to Derbyshire, of decorating wells and springs with pictures made from flowers and plants set into clay filled frames. Visitors could find out more about this ancient custom by watching the well dressers working on the dressing and having a go themselves.
