Padley Group Exhibition

Artists: Derby Padley Group

Venue: QUAD Corridors

An exhibition of work produced by students of the Padley Development Centre was on show around the QUAD Corridors.

The work was based on the theme of re-cycling in a creative manner. 

THE PADLEY DEVELOPMENT CENTRE was established in 1988 and is an accredited training centre.  They deliver therapeutic and expressive arts, woodworking and a range of vocational skills to people with physical and learning difficulties or mental health issues.  They also offer a range of arts and crafts activities, such as card making, jewellery making, canvas painting, pottery, woodwork, basic DIY and Yoga to the general public. 

THE PADLEY GROUP
Established in 1985,the Padley Group is about opening new doors to opportunities for people. 

The Padley Homeless Centre is accessible 365 days of the year.  Based in the heart of the city, the centre comprises a ten bed hostel and a day centre where professional support is available to help people move on in their lives.  They also tend to people’s basic needs such as food, shower, clothing, laundry facilities and meaningful activities.

Each year some 40,000 visits are made to the two centres.

PADLEY RECYCLING & SHOP
Padley’s recycling centre works with Derby City Council’s Rethink Rubbish Campaign by processing the proceeds of the City Council textile collection service.  They also collect donations from companies and organisations such as Bombardier and Derby University and from individuals.  The goods received are sorted and used to supply the Padley Charity Shop, clothe the homeless and provide an income to the Charity. 

PADLEY CHARITY SHOP is on Sadler Gate in Derby and sells donated clothing, books, videos, DVDs and bric-a-brac.  The shop also operates an alterations service and provides valuable retail work experience.
