Sequences explores the origins of the moving image, from the first magic lantern slide shows to new media flip books, from Marey to the Matrix. For a century chronophotography has been in the shadow of cinema, but now it is emerging once again in post cinema practices and digital media. 'Time Slice' photography's original pioneer, Tim MacMillan, is among the artists showing work as part of the exhibition alongside his original time-slice camera. Shotgun Blast by Andrew Davidhazy traces a bullet on its potent but poignant journey from gun to wall. In contrast, in Time Piece by Tess Glanville, light pouring into the room is traced onto walls and floors to mark the passage of time. On show at Derby Museum and Art Gallery are artefacts from Lumiere, Reynaud, Muybridge and Marey - the forefathers of chronophotography and an inspiration to the cutting edge. Sequences is a peterborough digital arts touring exhibition curated by Paul St. George. For more information go to www.pdarts.org.uk
