Derby Soap Opera Screening at Feste

Thursday 20th September

The premiere of QUAD's ambitious ‘mass participation’ film project Derby Soap Opera, that has involved over 15,000 Derby people, will take place during Derby Festé on the 20th of September 2012. The film, which will have the official title of ROSAS: The Attic, has been written, acted, performed and filmed by Derby residents, and led by the internationally renowned Italian artist Marinella Senatore.

Marinella Senatore is a contemporary artist and Director of Photography who studied under the highly influential Giuseppe Rotunno, who illuminated the films of Federico Fellini, Luchino Visconti and Bob Fosse. Her work takes the form of crowd-sourced installations and films often in location-specific projects which involve thousands of people.

QUAD invited the people of Derby to become the actors, singers and dancers, stage directors, costume designers, make-up artists or lighting technicians for Derby Soap Opera, which was created in QUAD between February and July 2012. The 40 minute film will tour as part of an international trilogy and screen in Berlin and Madrid, after its premiere as part of Derby Festé.
