“A visually stunning poetic fable” - The Los Angeles Times

Derby Film Festival

In this beautifully animated tale, told without dialogue, a man wakes up on a deserted island. His attempts to escape the island on rafts built of bamboo are repeatedly foiled by a red turtle. One evening he spies the turtle crawling on to the shore and takes revenge, an act which will have a profound effect on the course of his life. A co-production between Europe’s Wild Bunch and Japan’s legendary Studio Ghibli, working with a non-Japanese director for the very first time, The Red Turtle is a visually stunning fable which richly deserved its nomination for Best Animated Film at the 2017 Oscars.
