William Friedkin (The French Connection) follows the wonderful psychological horror Bug by re-teaming with writer Tracey Letts and returns to the crime genre with which he made his name. Matthew McConaughey plays Killer Joe Cooper, who is finally realising his potential with this dark role of a southern gentleman hit-man. 22 year old drug dealer (Emile Hirsch) is in trouble and needs $6000 quick, so he and his father (Thomas Haden Church) hatch a plan to kill his mother / wife (that everyone hates) for the life insurance - enter Killer Joe.
