One of the greatest movies ever made is reissued on the big screen. Robert DeNiro plays the isolated former Marine, who gets a job working as a taxi driver, hoping that the working nights will help his insomnia and distract him from his gnawing depression. But delving into the underbelly of New York only furthers his psychological dislocation from the world.
A world class performance from Robert DeNiro as Travis Bickle drags the viewer into a dark and desperate world. With Harvey Keitel, Jodie Foster and Cybill Shepherd, alongside Bernard Herrmann’s ominous score and Paul Schrader’s excellent screenplay, this film is a tour de force.
