Satori Screen, QUAD’s monthly East Asian cinema night, turns its focus to South Korea with this hard-hitting action thriller from the acclaimed director of The Chaser.

In Yanji City, a region between North Korea, China and Russia, compulsive gambler Gu-Nam is offered the chance to clear his debts by travelling to Korea and committing a murder. What follows is a chaotic blend of double crosses, violence and startling chase scenes in a setting rarely glimpsed on the cinema screen. The Yellow Sea played in competition in the Un Certain Regard at Cannes and won Best Actor at the 2011 Asian Film Awards for lead actor Jung-woo Ha’s stunning performance. The film will be introduced by Asian Film obsessive Peter Munford.
