Show your failures...

Thursday 16th August

Inspired by our current exhibition Accidentally on Purpose, SHOW.ME.PICTURES is embarking on an exciting new book project which explores the themes presented within the current programme.

Failure is an inevitable within art. We all experience failures, accidents, mishaps or mistakes during our artistic explorations - these can often be both unwanted and unsuccessful yet the unintended, accidental or unexpected can yield results that possess something unique, something fascinating or original. It is these failures and accidents that SHOW.ME.PICTURES wants to see and celebrate. Whether it’s a negative you’ve exposed ‘incorrectly’, a darkroom print that’s yielded a drastic or unimagined result, a corrupted file or a document of a failure in the everyday - this is an opportunity to showcase your accidental artworks.

They are looking for your submissions to include in a limited-edition booklet.

How to submit?

Browse through your collection of photographs to find your accidental, unintended or failed photographs. Digitise them – send your jpegs (max 5mb) to showmepictures@live.com under the headline ‘Failure Project’ along with a short statement (max 200-words) giving more information about the image – how it came to be, the reasons for it being deemed a failure (if it was..) and why you like it as an image. Limit submissions up to 5 per person.

Deadline for submissions?

The deadline for submissions will be 31st August 2012.

What happens if I’m selected?

If your images are selected you will be contacted via email and further information will be provided.

Each successful artist will receive a copy of the booklet and also feature in a post online via showmepictures.co.uk!
