This 3-week course is aimed at the home user, who wants to explore the creative possibilities available using Photoshop Elements, the entry-level image editing software from Adobe. Each week you will explore the range of tools available including selection tools, colour adjustments, text, layers and more.

Adobe Photoshop Basics (Mac/PC)

This course is ideal for anyone who is interested in learning the basics of Adobe Photoshop. The 4-week course will be a combination of demonstrations, tutorials and project briefs including: creating selections, layers, masking, transforming images, adjustments, photo retouching and text.

PHOTOGRAPHY
DSLR PHOTOGRAPHY: Level 1

A 5-week course aimed at people who have recently purchased, are going to purchase, or want to learn more about, their digital SLR camera. It is suitable for people who have only used the 'Program' mode and are uncertain about the other camera functions. Designed to demystify the features and characteristics of these cameras in an interesting and accessible way, the course will feature talks, 'hands-on' workshops, demonstrations and group activities.
By the end of the course participants will have the confidence to use their camera in more creative way, and have a basic understanding of light, composition and colour.
Camera Availability
Bring your own DSLR camera (if you have one) with charged battery and instruction book. A small amount of cameras are available for the course, please email dariusp@derbyquad.co.uk to book.

Home Movies with Premiere Elements (PC)

This 3-week course is aimed at the home user, who wants to learn how to edit video using Premiere Elements, the entry-level video editing software from Adobe. Each week you will explore the range of tools available to edit together your videos complete with titles, effects, photos and audio. Exporting to different outlets will also be covered including DVD, digital files, YouTube and Facebook.

Short Film Direction

Get Creative with Stop Motion Animation

A one-off fun session exploring the art of Stop Motion Animation. Throughout the day you will learn the techniques behind a range of animation styles and create your own short examples. Software used will be I Can Animate, available on both Mac & PC. An information sheet of all tools used will be provided to get you started at home.

This 4-week course will give the absolute beginner an introduction to basic web site design and the back-end requirements including domain names, web servers, optimisation for search engines and website hosting. You will learn basic concepts of building web pages from scratch including preparing images, effective design and usability. The course will include how you can utilise free software including Wix.com to build yourself an online presence.

Creative Writing: From Idea to Publication
