William
William is based on the character of a little boy who was kicked down the stairs by one of the overseers at Derby Silk Mill for not working hard enough. People say that this little boy's cries can still be heard at the foot of the Bell Tower, which survived a fire in 1910. William was created with the help of Year 6 at Cavendish Close Junior School.
William was the first Giant to be created, and he has already appeared in Derby at the Caribbean Carnival, Chaddesden Carnival and on the Market Place outside QUAD.
