Arts 4 Health
Arts 4 Health is a long term project between NHS Derby City and QUAD, who have been working together with partner organisations to develop an Arts and Health Programme for the community.
The overall aim of Arts 4 Health is to use creative approaches to improve health and reduce health inequalities of marginalised groups and communities in Derby city.
The Arts is used to build the confidence of the participants, therefore enabling them to access the support and services to assist them in fulfilling their lives and improving their health and well being.
Outcomes we are working towards include:
- Working with young parents to improve self esteem, confidence and also reduce isolation.
- Support those living with HIV/AIDS to promote well being and a sense of community whilst also raising awareness and reducing stigma.
- Working with young people from black and gay/lesbian/bisexual communities to improve self esteem, aspirations and abilities through involvement in creative activities that support them becoming peer mentors and positive role models.
- Supporting young people to gain a better understanding of positive sexual health.
- Use creative arts activities to work with disadvantaged communities on Community Health learning programmes.
This project has secured funding from Grants for the Arts - Arts Council East Midlands and the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.
