Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee (15) Film Review

Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee Film Review 12th October 2009
By QUAD Critique Group - a group of young people from Derby aged between 17-25
A light-hearted feel good film that, sees a salute to Meadows' previous short films. If you’re a fan of Peep Show, Spinal Tap and Kenny this film should be for you.
Notable are Le-Donk’s various mood swings and the relationship development between Scor-Zay-Zee and Le Donk ecapsulated wonderfully in the low-lit caravan scene.
Although the format and linear direction of this film could be seen as predictable the end of film left us with a feeling of ambiguity about certain directional elements, the glossy ending and soundtrack choices purposeful or not? Come decide if this is Meadow’s directional signature or a cliché.
Paddy Considine successfully steers you through the film leaving you hating and loving Le Donk, bringing out all the qualities of your best/worst mate but ultimately wanting him to succeed.
“Spinal Rap meets the Midlands”
“A 72 min slice of heart felt humour that’s a departure from the Hollywood filmmaking blueprint. This is British Film at its fantastically mediocre best.”
