Cannes Film Festival 2010

QUAD's Adam Buss has travelled to Cannes Film Festival, here's what he has to say so far...
"Cannes 2010 seems very different from 2009 so far. There is still the buzz of excitement and sparkle of glamour but there is also an air of fiscal reality in the ether.
There is far more competition for entry into screenings this year and queueing starts early, perhaps a reflection of a thinned out programme. The quality is undoubtedly still there but there are less film makers and companies who are taking risks and this is reflected in the selection of the films screening.
The Brits (Mike Leigh, Stephen Frears and Ken Loach) seem to be causing the biggest stir but it is a French film that is my highlight thus far; Of Men And Gods is a meditative tale of religious tensions in Algeria and the subsequent capture of a group of peace loving and community driven monks. I won't say too much more and hopefully you will get to see it for yourself at QUAD at some time in the future." Click here for more information.
