Final blog before I return to the UK and I am in reflective mood. I have seen some fantastic films and the overall feeling is one of defiance in the face of a global recession. The industry is galvanising itself and film makers around the world are continuing to create diverse, challenging and brilliant films.
The final film I watched was appropriately 'Another Year' by Mike Leigh, shot partially in Derby. The film is a triumph and really makes me proud to be part of a UK film industry that rivals the best in the world. Superb acting, hugely poignant scenes and Mike Leigh's trademark microscopic look at human frailties, quirks brilliant, wonderful nuances.
