QUAD, Derby to donate sales from film preview screening to support Ukraine

Olga (Cert. TBC) S

QUAD in Derby will be donating ticket sales from a special film preview screening of the new film Olga to support the Ukrainian relief effort.

QUAD has joined cinemas from across the UK to present a special preview of Olga, a new film about a young Ukrainian gymnast, with a portion of the proceeds going to charities supporting the Ukrainian relief effort. The screening will be introduced by Joe Kupranec, the Derby Branch Vice Chair of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain.

Olga is the story of a talented 15-year-old gymnast with a bright future which could take her to the Olympics. She leaves Kyiv for the chance to train in Switzerland, just at the point Ukraine experiences unprecedented political turmoil, and Olga is left a distant bystander as her mother, an investigative journalist, challenges a brutal regime. A subtle, tensely handled tale of exile reflecting the pressures on young athletes, the clash between the personal and the political, and Olga’s search for who she is and what she is prepared to sacrifice.

Olga (certificate to be confirmed) will be screened in Ukrainian with English subtitles on Thursday 31st March at 6:30pm. Tickets are £10, or £7.50 Concessions available from https://www.derbyquad.co.uk/Olga or QUAD Box Office 01332 290606.

QUAD is one of the UK cinemas who have united in support of Ukraine with screenings of Olga and will be donating box office sales to Disasters Emergency Committee Red Cross, Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. The previews are a result of a partnership with 606 Distribution and the BFI Film Audience Network, with support from the UK Cinema Association.
