Inside The World Of Surrealist Cinema

To celebrate the BFI Film Feels Curious we are a going down the rabbit hole into the World of Surrealist Cinema. You can still see the influences of the Surrealist movements in cinema today. Starting in the early stages of cinema led by filmmakers such as André Breton. Their revolutionary artistic techniques had a political dimension and aimed at shaking up the establishment with experimentation and exploring themes of violence and desire. This season we will be looking at some of the pioneers and cult classic filmmakers such as Vera Chytilova, David Lynch and  Jan Svankmajer accompanied by special guest introductions and talks that will leave you curious to explore more about the genre and its absurdity!

This season is part of Film Feels Curious, a UK-wide cinema season, supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. Explore all films and events at filmfeels.co.uk.
