Being/Seeing was an exhibition curated by Nikki Zoë Omes took place from 21 April - 6 May 2018 at an off-site venue in Derby city-centre, close to QUAD, called Riverlights. It showcased the work of a number of emerging artists participating in PARALLEL, a European Platform that brings together creative organisations committed to promoting cross-cultural exchanges and mentorships in order to set new standards in contemporary photography. Nikki Zoë Omes Biography:
Nikki Zoë Omes is a curator and graphic designer in Amsterdam. She was selected as an emerging curator for the first cycle of Parallel before working as an Exhibition Assistant for Unseen Photography Festival 2018. In June, Nikki will the start the International Curatorial Program by Node Center to further develop her curatorial practices. She holds an MA in Film & Photographic Studies and a BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences. In her MA thesis, she researched the potential of the "ecofeminist lens" as a framework to analyse photography and video art representing the female body with or in nature.
