Exhibition Explorations: Rebecca Allen, 'Sync(Emerge(Consciousness))

Join QUAD Senior Curator Peter Bonnell, artist Rebecca Allen and Helen Starr, curator and founder of The Mechatronic Library for an informative guided virtual tour of Rebecca's exhibition 'Sync(Emerge(Consciousness)) that was at QUAD from 10 November 2018 - 4 February 2019.

3D virtual exhibition tour produced by V21 Artspace

The tour features Rebecca's reflections on working with Florian Schneider and Kraftwerk, and her commission for QUAD and The Mechatronic Library - the VR work 'Life Without Matter'.

Rebecca Allen's exhibition was funded by Arts Council England, and Derby City Council.

At the heart of Rebecca Allen’s complex artworks are give and take interactions by the viewer when inside the artist’s, responsive, visionary and uncanny Virtual Reality worlds. There are few other experiences that replicate the embrace of Allen’s unique language; a language half-way between gesture and thought.

The exhibition at QUAD featured the VR artworks 'Inside' and 'Tangle of Mind and Matter' as well as a selection of works drawn from her astounding career, including the interactive large screen installation 'Bush Soul (#3)' and the video 'Musique Non Stop' that the artist made for electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk.
