Activities and Events for Families during October half term

With October half term around the corner we have lots of fun activities for families and young people coming up!

We'll be taking part in the Get Creative Family Arts Festival which runs nationally throughout October. 

The Big Draw event takes place nationally throughout October, including at QUAD. Each week QUAD will provide drawing opportunities for families to enjoy. The Big Draw takes place in QUAD daily from 11:00am until 5:00pm throughout October. It is free to take part and suitable for all ages. (Please note this is a drop in drawing opportunity and not facilitated by a workshop leader.)

Augmented Face Swap is a family friendly creative iPad based workshop where participants can swap faces, create new identities, play and explore!  Augmented Face Swap takes place in QUAD on Saturday 22nd October, from 11:00am to 1:30pm. It is free to take part and suitable for families with children aged five and above.

Lara Croft 20th Anniversary Event 
also on Saturday 22nd October is a chance to celebrate Derby born Lara Croft with the opportunity to play through the entire catalogue of Tomb Raider games in 20 years of gaming history from Derby’s Core Design to the current California based Crystal Dynamics. There will also be a wide range of Derby based memorabilia as well as conversations with special guests throughout the day. 

Crafty Glitches is a family friendly crafty hands-on making workshop using paper, glue, photographs and more. Crafty Glitches takes place in QUAD on Friday 28th October, from 10.30am to 4.00pm. It is free to take part and suitable for all ages. 

Glitched LIVE is a chance to create ‘glitch art’ using Photoshop, iPad apps. Become a digital artist and share your creations with the Glitch Art community! Glitched LIVE takes place in QUAD on Saturday 12th November from 11:00am until 4:00pm. It is free to take part and suitable for families with children aged five and above.

In Cinemas during half-term, QUAD Cine Kids will be screening Kubo and the Two Strings. The film is an epic action-adventure set in a fantastical Japan where the clever and kind-hearted Kubo ekes out a living storytelling to the people of his seaside town. His peaceful life is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit who enact an age old vendetta against Kubo. Now on the run, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) on a quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father. Trying to stop him are the vengeful Moon King (Ralph Fiennes) and the evil twin Sisters (Rooney Mara). 

Cine Kids Screenings are family friendly screenings held every Saturday and Sunday; and daily during school holidays. All tickets are £3.50 for Cine Kids Club members, Cine Kids Club membership is £12 and available from QUAD Box office.
