Our exciting mass participation events are a perfect way of getting involved in groundbreaking artwork. QUAD’s pioneering projects work with high profile artists to create community participatory projects.

Past projects include Jon Burgerman’s Derby Burgertown, People’s Zoetrope, The 17 Slice through Derby with Bill Drummond, Shoot Derby, Mapping Derby, SoundTrack Derby, MobFORMAT and The Derby Soap Opera with acclaimed director Marinella Senatore.

Past Lives Project Derby

FreeFall Arts are working with QUAD and FORMAT to digitise local cine film to make a new film of Derby featuring live music soundtrack with international musicians and strings from Sinfonia Viva. There will be cine film, photo scanning events and oral history gathering activities and workshops over the next few months, look out for the leaflets in QUAD, help us find and digitise local cine film of everyday lives in Derby!

Shine a Light Project

Shine A Light was a participatory film making project for the over 60s and ran by Derby QUAD (2013-16) and funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. 

The innovative participatory film project invited collaborations with people aged over 60 to show that life and learning do not stop at retirement.
