Plot and Story Structure

This course has now SOLD OUT.

Saturday 22nd September, 10:00am - 4:00pm

Explore the conventions of storytelling and plot structure and discover how they are present in all stories. Whether you are thinking about writing, working on something or would simply like to get a broader perspective on how stories function, this workshop will provide you with valuable new tools. What makes a story a story? What elements do all plots contain? How can you find them and bring them out in your work? Whether you are writing short stories, novels or scripts, the beats, conventions and demands of every story are the same.

In this one-day course, we will be looking at story frameworks such as the Three Act Structure and The Hero’s Journey. We will identify them in well-known stories and apply them to our own work.
