Part of Robot Day
Join us at QUAD to celebrate mini Robot Day 2023 for this year’s themed day exploring robotics and automation in agriculture with engineering expert Sam Wane. Learn how to control robots and how they are forming an important step in the farms of the future. This session is Part of QUAD’s Worldbuilding Season in partnership with The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET)
Free Hands-on workshops
Get a head start on all the exciting things happening in agricultural robotics, and learn skills sought by leading companies such as John Deere, Airbus, CNH, Trimble and Lely.
See what it takes to forge a career in this exciting field by getting hands-on and exploring the ins and outs of the industry. Learn about a range of topics, including microcontrollers, controlling the speed and steering function of a small vehicle, connecting to a GPS system, and programming a vehicle to drive autonomously to a destination. You’ll get to apply your new skills and knowledge using a specially developed outdoor mobile robot.
The robot buggy is an all-terrain robust robot for outdoor use. The system is based on a microcontroller board with sensors attached, a suite of library files to aid programming, reading the sensors, controlling the motors, all mounted on a rock-crawler all-terrain vehicle.
This 3:30pm workshop is suitable for adults. There is a workshop for under 18s at 1pm which can be booked at this page.
