In the late 1970’s British Inventor Sir Clive Sinclair had a vision of creating an affordable home computer that could change the world. In 1982 Sir Clive released the ZX Spectrum home computer, selling millions of units worldwide and quickly becoming one of the most important technological developments of its time, opening the door to a world of possibilities for millions of people. The ZX Spectrum’s accessibility meant many people learned to program and create their own games, kicking off the British Video Games Industry in the 1980’s!
The Rubber Keyed Wonder tells the story of the creation and development of the ZX Spectrum, the success it brought Sinclair, what impact it had through the various versions of the computer that followed, as well as covering a stunning array of games that were developed on the Spectrum including: Jet Set Willy, Knightlore, Chuckie Egg, Ant Attack, Saboteur and many, many more!
This highly nostalgic film features, rare archive combined with newly shot interviews with the original ZX Spectrum’s designers, Sir Clive’s son and nephew as well as some of the Spectrum’s greatest game developers from back in the day all sharing their memories of the extraordinary rise of the ZX Spectrum.
Whether you are a fan of the ZX Spectrum, grew up in the 80’s or 90’s or just love video games or tech history this film is for you!
