TOKORO Yui (FUJIYOSHI Karin) is a lover of literature and a huge fan of a famous student author known as MIDORIMACHI Konoha. Unfortunately for her, her new school’s literature club is dominated by a group of elite students, preventing her from joining. However, the club’s leader SAIONJI Mari (KUMADA Rinka) offers her a lifeline: if she can find out the true identity of the famous writer, she will be permitted to join the club.

Discovering its members have interviewed MIDORIMACHI in the past, Yui infiltrates the school’s unofficial newspaper club, where she begins her work as a rookie reporter and, together with the club’s other members, stumbles upon a deeper, darker secret: the school has been hiding the injustice and corruption that run rampant within its gates. With the school administration desperate to keep the truth hidden from prying eyes, can Yui and the newspaper club rise up against its crooked ways?

Filled to the brim with girl power, The Scoop is no ordinary coming-of-age film: rather, it is a gripping, skilfully-acted school drama depicting a microcosm of the society we inhabit, where injustice is everywhere and journalism is relied upon to – supposedly – fight back against all odds.
