Part of Derby Remembers

The FREE to download Derby Remembers Digital Trail app is part of a season of cultural events and activities to commemorate the First World War. It is timed to coincide with Poppies: Weeping Window at The Silk Mill Museum.

Following the digital trail, you will automatically uncover stories that will unlock archive photographs, texts about each site and images of artefacts that paint a picture of Derby during WW1. The Trail covers significant historical and cultural sites in Derby – including The Silk Mill, Déda, Derby Cathedral, The Cenotaph, Derby Museum & Art Gallery, QUAD and Royal Crown Derby.

The Trail starts at The Silk Mill and ends at the Midland Railway Memorial on Midland Road, by Derby Train Station. It will take approximately 30 minutes to walk the first 9 ‘stops’ on the Trail, and then a further 20 minutes and then 10 minutes respectively to Royal Crown Derby and the Midland Railway Memorial. There is an option in the app to read the Trail Stories offline.
