Time-Travel Season Launch and Exhibitions Opening

Part of QUAD's Time-Travel Season.

The many possibilities associated with travelling through time have captured the imagination of people across the globe for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years.

QUAD’s Time-Travel Season explores some of these possibilities through a diverse selection of workshops, family activities and events including tours, talks, film screenings and performances.

Monocular4 by Lindsay Seers, in QUAD Gallery, is a fully immersive sculptural space containing a poetic video installation that explores genetics, family histories, coincidences and chance associations. Situated in QUAD’s Extra Gallery Spaces is Event Horizon, a survey exhibition that invited artists to consider what it meant to fall into a black hole, or a worm hole – to experience the passage of time at its most brutal point in the universe.

Indeed, the inexorable passage of time is an ongoing concern for us all; after all – life is short. If you could, would you travel back in time to right a wrong, or forwards to see the future? But perhaps the most pressing concern is managing what time we have wisely, for we never seem to have enough.
