A Syrian Love Story has been chosen as a special screening to mark Refugee week in Derby.

Shot over 5 years, this films follows a family of Syrian refugees in Europe as they struggle against the oppression of the Assad regime, their subsequent exile and their heartache. For Ragdha and Amer, the mother and father of the family there are praying for their revolution, for their homeland and for each other.

A short film highlighting the refugee crisis, starring Derby actor and QUAD Patron Jack O’Connell will be shown before A Syrian Love Story (12A) on Thursday 23rd June at 6:30pm.

Home was shot in three countries, is supported by the UNHCR, the United Nations’ Refugee Agency. Written and directed by Daniel Mulloy, the film centres on a comfortable English family who experience a life-changing journey. Artists including Coldplay, Dizzee Rascal and Wiley have also donated music for the soundtrack. Home will be released across the UK on World Refugee Day.
