“Guillermo del Toro's beautiful blood-curdler is as timeless as a fairy tale” ★★★★★ - The Telegraph

Nominated for 13 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director & Best Actress (Sally Hawkins).

Guillermo Del Toro returns to the style of filmmaking that made The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth such a distinctive mark on cinema-goers.

The Shape of Water is set in 1963, where Elisa (Sally Hawkins) works as a janitor at a US government lab. One night a strange, amphibious creature (Doug Jones) is wrangled into the facility. The federal agent in charge (Michael Shannon) seems convinced that killing it is the best option. With the help of her co-workers Giles (Richard Jenkins), her co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) and a sympathetic scientist (Michalel Stuhlbarg), Elisa hatches a plan to save the creature.

Layered with subtext of social critique for those who are looking for it, The Shape Of Water is a delight to marvel at.
