Sir Ben Kingsley made his professional stage debut aged 23 and was performing on the West End within two years before going on to join the prestigious Royal Shakespeare Company. Alongside a respected reputation on the stage, Sir Ben made regular appearances on British television throughout the 1970s. It was his Oscar Winning performance as Mohandas Ghandi in 1982 that brought him worldwide acclaim and set him on the path to a string of stellar screen performances with further Oscar nominations for Bugsy (1991), Sexy Beast (2000), House Of Sand And Fog (2003) alongside well respected performances in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List (1993), Roman Polanski’s Death And The Maiden (1994), Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island (2010) and Hugo (2011). Sir Ben has also had great success in the world of Blockbuster cinema appearing in Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb and the Marvel Studios film Iron Man 3 (2013).

Derby Film Festival is honoured to welcome Oscar Winner Sir Ben Kingsley to the festival to talk about his illustrious career on the stage and in film and television.
