Paracinema Festival 2018 Pass

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, we launch the first edition of Paracinema, a festival dedicated to films and genres outside of the mainstream. Expect a steady diet of horror, sci-fi and fantasy but also we’ll be exploring other genres outside the mainstream with special guests, previews and talks on a whole range of unusual genres and subgenres.

Events include:

Special Guest – Toyah Willcox.
We are delighted to be welcoming actress and pop star Toyah Willcox to Paracinema and Derby Film Festival on Saturday 5th May to talk about her career appearing in classics like Derek Jarman’s Jubilee, The Tempest and the mod classic Quadrophenia as well as juggling a hugely successful pop career.

We present a preview of Attack Of The Adult Babies with Special Guests Director Dominic Brunt and Screenwriter/Star Joanne Mitchell. Q&A hosted by Director Jake West (Doghouse, Evil Aliens, Razor Blade Smile).

An Introduction To Pink Cinema - Film writer Jasper Sharp joins us to give a talk on the wild and subversive world of the Japanese Pink Film genre. 

Jake West and Marc Morris from Nucleus Films present an talk on Bluray restoration before a rare cinema screening of Giullio Questi’s Death Laid An Egg.

The All Night Paracinema Takeover! Films screened throughout the night on the evening of 5th May. Action classics in one screen and extreme horror and exploitation cinema in another. 

Nosferatu with live score at Derby Cathedral -
The silent classic is resurrected with a live score on the Cathedral organ. 

Loads of fantastic new films including three world premieres, four European premieres and two UK premieres!

A pass to the festival is just £50 and allows entry to all events over the four days.
