Edge-Lit 8 celebrating the best in Horror, Thriller, Fantasy & Science-Fiction

Edge-Lit 8 celebrating the best in Horror, Thriller, Fantasy & Science-Fiction takes place in QUAD, Derby 13th July 2019

Edge-Lit, an event which celebrates the best in Horror, Thriller, Fantasy and Science-Fiction writing, returns to QUAD on the 13th July 2019. Running for the eighth year, the event offers a busy day of panels, workshops, readings, interviews with an array of genre fiction talent from around the UK and beyond.

This year’s headline Guest of Honour is Christopher Golden, a New York Times bestselling author, renowned for books such as Ararat and series like The Hidden Cities and The Shadow Saga. He has also written for recognisable film and TV properties such as Hellboy and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He will be joined by regular co-writing partner Tim Lebbon, whose novel The Silence has just been translated into film for Netflix starring Stanley Tucci, Kieran Shipka and Miranda Otto. He is also the author of The Hunt, The Relics series and the story ‘Pay The Ghost’, also translated to screen starring Nicholas Cage.

The Guest of Honour line-up is completed by Anne Charnock (Arthur C Clarke Award winning author of Dreams Before The Start of Time); Aliette De Bodard (Nebula, Locus and BSFA award winning writer of science-fiction and fantasy); Sarah Lotz (acclaimed horror and thriller author of The Three and The White Road) and Neil Spring (supernatural horror writer of the bestselling The Ghost Hunters, filmed for ITV as Harry Price: Ghost Hunter). They will be joined by Special Guest Stephen Volk, an acclaimed author and scriptwriter famous for TV shows such as Ghostwatch, Afterlife and Midwinter of the Spirit.

Attendees on the day will have access to a wide variety of activities, including a series of panel discussions, interviews and readings with the Guests of Honour, workshops, a dealers room offering a variety of books for independent presses and authors and the ever-popular Edge-Lit raffle.

Alex Davis, Literature Officer for QUAD, said: “I’m delighted to bring Edge-Lit back once again – the event has become an exciting part of Derby’s literary calendar, with attendees on the day coming from all over the UK. This year’s author line-up is one of our best ever, and the event offers great value for writers, readers and fans of genre fiction.”
