Following the success of A Christmas Carol in 2023, The Lost Boys and QUAD have taken the very easy decision to work together again for the festive season of 2024. The Lost Boys, QUAD, and Derby LIVE (part of Derby City Council) have joined forces to produce a unique theatrical adventure and art exhibition experience in the main gallery from 7th December 2024 – 10th January 2025.
The Lost Boys and QUAD are pleased to continue their collaboration in producing this new and original family-friendly production, following on from last year’s great success, of A Christmas Carol in the John Hurt Cinema. This time, the new production will be part of a gallery take-over that sees The Lost Boys bring their usual mad-cap, irreverent (with a little deference) style blended with QUAD’s digital wizardry to create an immersive experience inspired by Fairy Tales. The QUAD Gallery will be transformed into a steampunk theatrical set/installation featuring interactive, digital projection, for the production and a multi-art exhibition featuring work by participants and young people from Derby and Derbyshire who will work with The Lost Boys and QUAD throughout the Autumn.
The Production It is the height of the Victorian Empire, Professor Jamieson Lockheart finds his life turned upside down when he is removed from his role at Oxford University, he is then quickly thrust into a world of fantasy and adventure as he is sent on a secret mission across Europe, a mission steeped in fairy tales and folklore. Having never left the shores of Britain, he needs a guide and travelling companion to aid him. Enter Jack Tar Hawkins, a merchant sailor and aeronaut for hire. One relies on books, the other on his wits and experience. Together they must learn to rely on each other if they are to survive the perils that await them on their journey. The fate of the world hangs in the balance. Will they survive and return having successfully completed their mission, to find out the answer to this and more Join Lockheart and Hawkins as they set sail this December at Quad, Derby.
