UK Artist Open Call 

Artcore and FORMAT are delighted to announce an open call for two UK based artists to take part in an International Residency in India and the UK in early 2023.  

This collaborative partnership will support the creative collaboration and exchange of 2 UK artists and 1 Indian artist working in lens-based and related media. The selected artists will undertake a two-week residency in Vadodara, India, before travelling to Derby, UK to install an exhibition at Artcore as part of the next FORMAT biennale – FORMAT23 – taking place in Derby. 

This open call is for two UK based artists, a separate open call for an Indian based artist will be announced in the following week. 

The selected residency artists will embed themselves in the Holi Celebrations in the tribal-rich district of Chhota Udepur and have the chance to meet local residents, other artists, and to visit various UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the surrounding area. The artists will each make work responding to the festival celebrations, culture and residents of the villages; exchange ideas and practices to curate a collaborative exhibition at Artcore Gallery for Artcore and Format23.
