Online Workshops for Families and Young People this Easter

QUAD will be offering workshops online for families and young people during Easter, including Minecraft, Spring craft and Photography.
 
Online Make and Take is an online version of QUAD’s popular free creative workshops, suitable for families with children aged three and above. Two Zoom sessions with the theme of ‘Spring’ will be led by local artist Helen Jackson. The sessions have been arranged to use art, craft and recyclable materials that people already have at home. Families will need a PC, laptop or tablet with Zoom enabled, plus pens, pencils, a ruler, scis-sors, tape or glue, card: cereal boxes or other lightweight packaging and coloured paper: old newspapers magazines or wrapping paper. 

Online Make and Take: Spring is free and takes place on Friday 9th and Friday 16th April from 10:30am until 11:30am. Places are limited and pre-booking is essential. Places need to be secured by Wednesday 7th or Wednesday 14th April prior to the workshop dates, with an email address and telephone number for the Zoom instructions. 

QUAD also has a Minecraft-themed workshop suitable for young people aged eight to fourteen. The workshops will be delivered online and are part of QUAD’s MinecraftLAB programme, focusing on objectives in a creative build. 

Many Hands Make Lightwork is an immersive digital artwork set in alternative night-time versions of Rockingham Castle gardens. QUAD has collaborated with Fermynwoods Contemporary Arts to create a Minecraft build of Rockingham Castle gardens and contribute to a real-life artwork. Grown in Mine-craft and Mozilla, the artwork has been designed and built by artists Sarah Gillett and Stuart Moore. Join Sarah to explore the landscapes in darkness to discover the secrets and histories, excavating and examining folklore, fragments of correspondence, geology and astronomy. During the artwork’s development, audiences will be invited into the gar-dens before the final artwork is launched for a physical exhibition at Rockingham Castle in 2021. 

MinecraftLAB: Many Hands Make Lightwork will take place via Zoom on Tuesday 6th and Tuesday 13th of April. from 2:00pm to 4:30pm, the cost is £5 per person per session. A log-in to access Minecraft Java edition is required, those that do not have an account please state this upon booking. Once you have booked your place, QUAD will contact you with detailed information on how to access the QUAD Minecraft server and a Mine-craft login will be provided, if required, to enable you to access this session.  For any questions, please contact minecraft@derbyquad.co.uk

QUAD will also be offering two photography workshops in conjunction with FORMAT Photography Festival.

FORMAT Photo Challenge is a family friendly activity for those with children aged five and above. Join professional photographer Jon Legge to take part in a series of challenges to photograph things around the home, with the chance to share your results with other participants. FORMAT Photo Challenge takes place via Zoom on Thursday 8th April from 10:30am to 12:00 noon. Booking is essential by Monday 5th April, with an email address and telephone number for joining instructions before the session. 

Photo Apps Masterclass with Debbie Adele Cooper is a workshop suitable for young people aged 13 to 19. While we might not be able to travel at the moment, we can create our own virtual travel photos, maybe you’ve always wanted to visit Paris? Or would like to see your pet there? Maybe you’d like to see your pet visiting space? In this fun creative workshop, artist Debbie Adele Cooper will show you how to quickly edit your photos using free apps to create fun and exciting collages. Photo Apps Masterclass with Debbie Adele Cooper is free and takes place via Zoom on Thursday 15th April, from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. Booking is essential by Monday 11th April, with an email address and telephone number for joining instructions before the session.
