QUAD selected by Oska Bright Film Festival for its new cinema support project

Following a national call-out and competitive selection process, Oska Bright Film Festival has selected three cinema exhibition partners for its new UK-wide support programme WELCOME BACK.

The Welcome Back project is designed to aid cinemas to help them become exemplar organisations in the field of welcoming learning-disabled cinema goers to their venues.

The three selected organisations form the basis of a new UK learning disability-focused network of cinema exhibitors and will help develop the capacity of other venues as the network expands.

The three selected organisations are Filmhouse Cinemas and Edinburgh International Film Festival, Derby’s QUAD, and London’s Barbican Cinema.

Abbie Canning, QClub Project Curator at QUAD said: “QUAD are delighted to have been selected to work with Oska Bright Film Festival on this exciting project to welcome back learning disabled audiences to our cinema. We are particularly grateful for the support this partnership will offer to help build our staff team’s expertise in supporting learning disabled audiences and helping them access QUAD’s cinema and programme of activities. It will strengthen QUAD’s offer of inclusive and accessible screenings and activities for all.”
