About The Drill #3: Art × Money

The Drill #3: Art × Money will explore the relationship between Art and Money through a series of five (5) moderated conversations heralded by a cross section of people who have worked in economic fields, art, or law. With this event, we want to go beyond the question “why are artists poor?”, by proposing possible ways out, and also providing useful guides on how to finance art projects. This would be the first The Drill event that would also lead to the publication of papers on the subject matter. All the conversations and presentations will be transcribed and published as papers; papers that can inform future research into the problem of fiscal responsibility, finance, and the relationship between money and the arts in Africa.

This will also be our first boot camp (virtual), where we will not only focus on the content of the sessions, but also on fostering collaborations between the cohorts. The bootcamp will be virtual and there will be a maximum of 20 cohorts. The cohorts will get to participate in the conversations in real time, while other attendees would be able to follow the events on the YouTube livestream. We believe that this model would enable us maximise time, and also follow up on the participants on challenges they face in their respective practices.

Registrations are open now and will close on 20 July, 2021. To register visit: www.thedrill.org
