This Is Derby Celebration event on Derby Market Place Saturday 13th July
This is Derby Celebration Event: A FREE Family Event
“There’s nothing to do in Derby” takes place on Saturday 13th July 3:00pm to 8:00pm on Derby Market Place, for a celebration event celebrating our young people through a range of dance, music and sports performances.
Join us to celebrate the talents and achievements of our young people in a vibrant takeover in Derby’s city centre. A fusion of arts, culture and sports activities plus performances bringing the Market Place to life for everyone to enjoy and inspire our city – that actually does have a lot to offer! The day will conclude with a spectacular finale.
QUAD have co-ordinated the Digital Hub for #This Is Derby, including the creation of a website https://thisisderby.org. A web team of young people attended workshops at QUAD to design the website with designers Firecatcher and web developers Frogspark. QUAD have also delivered a range of creative workshops at schools and community centres across the city in digital photography, clay modelling, film making and creative iPad skills.
This is Derby is brought to life by young people supported by local arts and sports charities and Department for Education. Produced by Walk the Plank.
QUAD have also been involved with projection mapping for with Learn On Me, part of the ‘This Is Derby’ project. Learn On Me is an afternoon celebrating the wonderful creative work of SEND students across Derby. Featuring brand new songs and music, as well as physical theatre and movement, incredible state of the art projection mapping and visual art created by the young people.
Accompanied by a live orchestra, and led by artists from Sinfonia Viva, QUAD and Hubbub Theatre, this concert is mish-mash of sights, sounds and senses and a spectacular celebration of the amazing work that has been happening across the city, inspired by Hubbub’s ‘The (Not So) Quiet Revolution of Kindness’. The performance will feature students from St. Martins School, St. Clare’s School, St. Giles School, Ivy House School, St. Andrew’s School & Royal School for the Deaf Derby.
